Mesothelioma symptoms are pretty common, and this is the main reason why they are often ignored until they become sever.
There are three common types of mesothelioma named pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma and pericardial mesothelioma.
Each type has slightly different symptoms.
Pleural mesothelioma symptoms are chest pains, shortness of breath, reduced chest expansion, faint or hard breathing sounds, dry cough, pleural effusions, coughing up blood, body ached and blood clotting disorder.
Peritoneal mesothelioma symptoms include weight loss, abdominal distention, hernias, loss of appetite, feeling of fullness, abdominal swelling, fatigue, abdominal fluid buildup and bowel obstruction.
The symptoms of pericardial mesothelioma are breathing difficulty and chest pains.
Mesothelioma is often caused by asbestos fibers inhalation and have a tendency to show up on later stages. This why mesothelioma prognosis is generally poor and survival rate among the victims is extremely low.
40 percent victims only manage to survive just one year after the diagnosis. However, the prognosis can be improved by an early diagnosis of the malignant disease.
The only way to diagnose it early is by paying close attention to minor symptoms and have regular appointments with a doctor. The earlier it is detected, the more chances of survival.
